Deer hunters
Deer hunting is one tag per membership. All state tags are open for this permit.
Elk hunters
If you are successful in the archery bull elk draw, ECR follows state regulation and allows harvest of either sex.
East Canyon Resort has one auction bull and one auction cow. The auction is held on June 6, 2026 at the hunter orientation meeting starting at 8:00 AM. You or your representative must be present to bid, and payment is due at that time. The winner of the bull elk auction tag may pick from all three seasons. It is the hunter’s responsibility to purchase a state tag. All elk hunting rules and requirements apply.
A member eligible to hunt cow elk may begin the day after the archery hunt ends and hunt throughout the legal season, except:
- No cow elk hunting on the opening weekend of the first rifle bull elk hunt (October 3–4), regardless of weapon.
- No cow elk hunting on the opening weekend of the second rifle elk hunt (October 10–11), regardless of weapon.
- No cow elk hunting during the muzzleloader bull elk hunt (October 28 – November 5), regardless of weapon.
- Archery cow hunting begins after the archery bull hunt, on September 16.
East Canyon Resort uses an internal bull and cow elk bonus-point system. If you applied the previous year and were not drawn, you receive one point.
Other hunting notes
- No doe harvest. No turkey harvest.
- No running dogs on any ECR big-game hunts, except after December 1 with Outdoor Committee Chair or ECR manager approval above the Druby campground.
- Pick up a hunting packet before your season. Carry the correct Utah licenses/permits and the ECR hunting permit. Wear your ECR hunting ID at all times.

- Family members and guests must stay within voice range of the primary member they applied to hunt with.
- Relative Rights members may not hunt on their own. They must use one of the full member’s deer tags and stay with that member.

- All hunters and non-hunters must wear DNR-approved hunter orange during any centerfire rifle hunts.
